Cooperative Systems Joins a Nationwide Global Effort to Support Data Privacy Day by Signing On as a Champion

Organizations across the world are generating awareness about the importance of respecting privacy, safeguarding data and enabling trust.

January 26, 2022 – Today we’re announcing our commitment to being a Champion of Data Privacy (CDPD) and increasing awareness around the importance of privacy and protecting personal information. As a CDPD, our goal is to collaborate our customers and partners to act as conscientious stewards of personal information.

The events of 2020 and 2021 underlined the necessity data privacy in a big way. So much that Data Privacy is Data Privacy Week, to give the topic the attention it needs. in early 2022, the cybersecurity and data privacy communities are intensely focused on protecting individuals and organizations from data breach, fragmented data privacy legislation, and misuse of personal information.

Why This Matters To Your Business

Data Privacy Day is part of a greater effort, the privacy awareness campaign, that helps business and consumers understand how they can own their online presence and reminds them that privacy is indeed good for business. This is a global effort among organizations, corporations, educational institutions, government entities, municipalities and individuals to raise awareness at home, at work and in their communities. We’re collaborating on messaging about data privacy, and working to empower digital citizens.

About Data Privacy Day (DPD)

DPD began in the United States and Canada in January 2008 as an extension of the Data Protection Day celebration in Europe. Data Protection Day commemorates the Jan. 28, 1981, signing of Convention 108, the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and data protection. The National Cyber Security Alliance, the nation’s leading nonprofit, public-private partnership promoting cybersecurity and privacy education and awareness, leads the effort in North America. The Day is advised by a distinguished advisory committee of privacy professionals.
